KRIS’s Perfect Office Chair

KRIS’s Perfect Office Chair

KRIS believes that a successful day in the office typically involves a long length of time being sat in an office chair. Therefore, that office chair needs to be comfortable as well as one that promotes good posture by minimizing the stress being put on the structure of the spine. An Ergonomic office chair will reduce the chances of back pain and making the overall day at work a lot better.

There are a number of features to an ergonomically effective chair which are listed below:

The seat height: This feature must be able to be adjusted so that it can be suitable for all body shapes and sizes. The adjustable part of the chair also means the user to have their feet flat on the floor, with their thighs horizontal and arms even with the height of the desk.

The seat width and depth: From the front to the back of the seat (depth), should be enough so that when the user has their back on the backrest, there should be approximately 2 to 4 inches between the back of the knees and the seat of their chair. The standard width of an ergonomic chair is between 17-20 inches.

Lumbar Support: Having lower back support in an ergonomic chair is vital for lumbar spine support. If this area of the back is not supported with an outwards curve, long periods of time of sitting without support can lead to slouching.

Backrest:  The back rest of an ergonomic chair is most effective at 12 to 19 inches wide. If the backrest is separate to the seat, then adjustments to the height and angles must be able to be made to support the natural curve of the spine. If the backrest and seat is attached to one another, there should be an option to adjust the back of the chair in forwards and backwards angles.

Seat material: The material should have suitable padding to be comfortable, even after a long period of time.

Armrest:  If an armrest is available for an office chair, it should be adjustable and enable the user to rest their arm comfortably and shoulders relaxed.

Stand: Every ergonomic chair should have a swivel stand so that the user will not have to reach for areas without straining.
